When preparing a trip for moose hunting, you need to take into consideration the equipment you will need. You might want to make a list that encompasses all of the following: hunting knives, a rifle complete with proper ammunition, pencil and paper, map, a canteen, and plenty of water.

You will also require more general equipment. The list you should create would be one comparable to if you were going on a camping trip. A sleep bag and tent if you do not have accommodations with the outfitters lodging, dried meats, nuts, and fruits for protein, a compass or a GPS device if you have one, utensils for cooking if applicable, blankets, medications you may be taking, and a few extra outfits of clothing in case others get wet.

Speaking of clothes, it is yet another thing you must consider when preparing for a moose hunt. You should have clothing that is suitable for extremely cold temperatures as well as warmer ones depending on the season and country you will be hunting. It may sound odd, but a lot of places can get quite hot during the day time hours and the temperatures can then plummet to below freezing at night. Aside from this general apparel, you will also need to be certain you have the traditional hunter orange apparel for safety.

Writing your own checklist may be just a bit daunting and let’s face it; we are all humans and can make a few mistakes. You may forget an item or two and that is where a professional outfitter can come in and help. They can go down a list for you of all the equipment you will need and if you forgot any, they would be quite happy to provide them for you. Once all the preparations are finished, the outfitters can then show you the hottest locations to have a prosperous hunt.
